LAMPjack
This is sort of cool. LAMP has been sorta stuck with the (P)srse.

This LAMPjack thing is really cool, As I understand it
LAMPjack= LAMP+(J)avascript (A)ccess (C)onduit.

I've already seen it do cross domain login/signup and other things with nothing
but javascript. It also bypasses the whole AJAX browser specific cruft
requiring no browser / object sniff , yet being able to exploit all the regular LAMP
stuff.

Jim Starkey joins MySQL AB
"I started messing around with computers in about 10th grade. A local college had a government grant to teach FORTRAN to high school kiddies. From my first clunk on a keypunch (look it up on Google), I was hooked. My first machine was an IBM 7040 which filled a very large room and had all of 32K memory. I designed my first computer language, a simulated machine language and assembler, the next year when I was 15. I haven't stopped since."
Said Jim Starkey, Relational database pioneer and the creator of InterBase in an interview with Marina Novikova two years back from now.
The inveterate database engineer has now joined MySQL AB as Senior Software Architect. In addition, the company has appointed Mr. Taneli Otala as co-Chief Technical Officer.

IBM Promtes Linux on Desktops

Hot discussion on Linux Forum. IBM has been contributing a lot to the open source community ever since Linux made an entry to the computing industry. Giving up technology patents, IBM has boosted morale above par. This move from IBM was long awaited since the community was feeling that a big player's influence was necessary to bring Linux on to the Desktop.

Google Page Creator is out
Google has rolled out yet another free web service - online web page creator. Much like Yahoo! Geocities. If you have a Google account you get a subdomain under googlepages.com. Google claims its new service as the best WYSIWYG editor.

Currently the project is in early beta stages. Due to huge demand Google is currently not accepting new accounts. But you can enlist your accout in the queue. After Gmail - A free e-mail service, Page Creator is the most threatening Google's product to its competition.

New Free LAMP Framework
Hi,

Think Computer Corporation is giving away its Lampshade LAMP framework for personal use as of just this past week. For more information, you can take a look at the press release:

http://www.thinkcomputer.com/corporate/news/pressreleases.html?id=22

or at the Lampshade site itself:

http://www.thinkcomputer.com/software/lampshade/index.html

Features include automatic (and custom if you like) form error checking, multiple security levels for applications, useful debugging features, built-in audit trail functionality, date handling, and a lot of useful pre-packaged form controls.

It's free for personal use, but Think charges for commercial use.
